Muscular Dystrophy Foundation; Our club supports this very worthwhile organisation by providing Christmas BBQs, Easter Bunny BBQ and assisting in their major fund raising event the annual HOG (Harley Owners Group) Bike Ride. This "HOG Ride" starts with a breakfast followed by an all day trip on the back of a Harley Davidson as paying passengers through the Hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast with lunch at a local restaurant.

Madonna House. This is a refuge for women and children in need of temporary shelter. The Brisbane Kiwanis provide an annual Christmas party and gifts for past and present guests plus the provision of essential personal effects, clothing and furniture to restart the families as independents back into the community.

SOWN - Save Our Waterways Now. A project for people who like gardening and helping beautify our community by keeping a local water way and surrounding parklands clear of weeds and naturally revegetated. The project provides for club fellowship about once a month early on a Saturday morning, to avoid the heat, ending with a BBQ breakfast. The activity is financially supported by the City Council which provided a sign thanking Kiwanis for their involvement in the community.

Calico Dolls. This is one of our clubs long term on-going programs to support children in hospital. The Calico Dolls - sometimes referred to as Trauma Dolls, are, cut, stitched, stuffed and packaged by various mature aged community groups and then delivered to hospitals throughout Queensland by Kiwanians. The dolls are given to children undergoing surgery or other medical procedure so that Doctors and Nurses can draw on the dolls to explain what is happening to the new owner of that doll. The children are encouraged to name the doll and ask questions about the dolls surgery and treatment.

Special Olympics.Involvement with the children in this project is especially rewarding for every Kiwanian involved. The club supports the Brisbane area Swimming Special Olympics with marshalling, time keeping, setting up the facilities and providing a BBQ lunch. Can those athletes eat! The intensity of the competition and the smiles at the end of each event is truly heart warming.

Mothers Day Flowers. The elderly and sometimes those not privileged with family visits on this special day are given a bouquet of flowers accompanied with a card made by children from a local school.

Of course to support these activities we need to have Fund Raisers, the major ones this year being selling Entertainment Books, raffle for personalised car number plates and catering at a new facility opening for a local business.
